Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo Beta adds dormant fast-charging capabilities, latest update brings January 2018 Android security patch
Xiaomi rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for testers a couple of weeks back. There were reports that the update added support for fast charging. We were able to test the latest Beta ROM in our unit and can confirm that it indeed brings fast charging support for the phone. This works only when you use a fast charger and not with the bundled charger that has output of only 5V-2A. We used Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0-certified fast charger (5V-2.5A/ 9V-2A/12V-1.5A) and it showed the phone is charging rapidly. Compared to 1 hour and 59 minutes without fast charging from 0 to 100% and 53 minutes from 0 to 50% when running on Nougat. The Oreo Beta with fast charging enabled charges the phone in 1 hour and 34 minutes and it took 41 minutes to charge from 0 to 50%.
